Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) with
ACP countries / Wirtschaftspartnerschaftsabkommen mit AKP-Staaten
Since December 2007 the EU is in negotiations over Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) with several African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries. These trade agreements were necessary, because the "Cotonou Agreement" from 2000, which regulated trade relations, expired in December 2007. The EPAs will now continue the important trade relations between the EU and ACP-countries. The agreements create free trade zones which are compliant with WTO-rules between the EU and certain groups of countries.
