Research Cooperation between Arizona and Lower SaxonyLower Saxony offers a very high diversity of research institutions. In many areas these institutions are amongst the world's top. This leading role is partly responsible for the success of Lower Saxony as a whole and therefore has to be continued.
In the fast developing world it is important to walk new paths also in research and innovation such as new cooperation with other research institutions around the world. The cooperation between Lower Saxony (especially the southern part) and Arizona (USA) could become a promising one, Erika Mann believes. Therefore during her last visit to Arizona, Erika Mann met amongst others, Mr. John Grabo to discuss possible cooperation between relevant Universities. John Grabo is the Director Marketing and international Program at the University of Arizona.
Cooperation could extend to different field, e.g. the optical science. Cooperation in the field of Geophysics is already existent but might be strengthened even more.
On February 1st 2008, Erika Mann gave a lecture at the Institute for German Studies at the University Tucson. This institute currently cooperates with the University Leipzig.
